In the aftermath of the heartbreaking accident, it was confirmed by the Riverside County Fire Department that the tragedy left no survivors. The aircraft, which had its journey beginning in Las Vegas, was engulfed in flames, and consequently, claimed the lives of everyone on board.

The victims of this appalling incident were not just the pilot, but also included two pairs of married couples and a young woman, all of whom had embarked on what should have been a routine flight.

The pilot, Riese Lenders, merely 25-years-old, was in command of the aircraft. Despite his young age, he was trusted by the passengers to navigate through the challenging weather conditions that they encountered that fateful day.

Two married couples were amongst the victims, living proof of the adage, ’till death do us part’. The first pair was 32-year-old Manuel Vargas-Regalado and his life partner, 33-year-old Abigail Tellez-Vargas. Their love story, undoubtedly filled with shared dreams and moments, met a tragic end far too soon.

The second couple was Ibrahem Razick, aged 46, and his wife, Alma, aged 51. They were a testament to the bond of matrimony, which, in their case, was broken not by the trials of life, but by this tragic accident.

Finally, there was 31-year-old Lindsey Gleiche from Huntington Beach. A young woman in the prime of her life, her untimely departure added to the string of losses caused by this disaster.

Thus, the catastrophic event not only claimed six lives but also left a permanent scar on the hearts of their families, friends, and the community they were part of.

Tragedy strikes again at the French Valley Airport in Southern California, as a small private jet crashes in dense fog, resulting in the loss of six lives, all on board. This marks the second fatal incident at this airport within just a week.

The incident unfolded on a Saturday morning, around 4:15 AM, as a Cessna C550 Citation attempted a landing amidst challenging weather conditions. The pilot, 25-year-old Riese Lenders, relayed his inability to visually locate the runway due to the heavy fog to air traffic control. This weather condition, commonly referred to as a ‘marine layer’, is a frequent occurrence along the Southern California coastline.

Despite his best efforts, Lenders had to abort his first landing attempt, deciding to make another circuit. Unfortunately, the aircraft skidded off the runway, approximately 500 feet short of the landing strip, and burst into flames upon impact.

The Riverside County Fire Department confirmed that everyone on board the aircraft, which had originated from Las Vegas, lost their lives in this tragic event. In addition to the pilot, the victims included two married couples: 32-year-old Manuel Vargas-Regalado and his wife, 33-year-old Abigail Tellez-Vargas, and 46-year-old Ibrahem Razick and his wife, Alma, 51, as well as 31-year-old Lindsey Gleiche from Huntington Beach.

Flight tracking data from Flight Aware revealed that the twin-engine jet aborted its first landing attempt at a height of less than 1,600 feet and a speed of around 170 miles per hour. The aircraft then attempted to circle back and land for a second time but crashed just a few hundred feet short of the runway, approximately 58 minutes after it had departed from Harry Reid International in Nevada.

French Valley Airport, situated in the hilly region north of San Diego, stands at an elevation of about 1,350 feet. The same airport was the site of another fatal incident just earlier that week when a Cessna 172 single-engine aircraft crashed into a car park shortly after takeoff, taking the life of one of the four people on board.

In this incident, a father, who was piloting the plane, tragically died, while his three children onboard survived. In November 2021, yet another incident occurred near the airport when a pilot crashed his Zodiac aircraft into a hillside. The sole passenger onboard, an adult male, was found dead inside the aircraft by the police who arrived at the scene.

The primary cause of the crash was heavy fog, which significantly reduced visibility at the time the aircraft was trying to land at French Valley Airport in Southern California.
